We’re Moving

In order to consolidate all the information-giving to our well-wishers in one place, read on.

We are moving to a sweet townhouse in the Garden Court community off Hydraulic Road which is near the split between Hydraulic and West Rio Road. The address is Charlottesville, Virginia though it’s technically in Albemarle County. We met yesterday with the current renters who are leaving their lease early (ends in July) in order to downsize costs, and the owner who is an investor/realtor. We all signed the sublease, it was a little comical sending 5 copies around collecting signatures, and initialed the lease where we added “wear and tear damages” after doing a walk through. We got the chance to check it out more closely and see how to care, well, how to tell the owner if anything is wrong. I still love it. The light and space is great. We even have a working fireplace and space for a tiny garden in the tiny backyard. We bought patio furniture from one of the renters for cheap (I suppose $25 is cheap compared to his original price) and the other threw in deck chairs for free.

Thankfully most of our belongings are in boxes. Yet again, we are reorganizing and repacking better. We’re also Freecycling some stuff we don’t need/want. On Saturday, December 6 (yes, it’s Sara Ellen’s 3rd birthday), Tim, his father, and myself are putting almost all our stuff in a rental trailer and dad-in-law’s Suburban and driving down early. We’ll unpack, hopefully with the help of my friend and her husband. They live in Lynchburg so we’ll be so much closer! I’m really excited about that but of course sad to be further from local friends. We three will return home the same day and probably still have time to share with our birthday girl.

Tim is taking a business trip the 9th - 13th. I am attending a Martha Graham Dance Company master class(!) at the Kennedy Center Monday and will see their performance with friends Tuesday. Sara Ellen will get her well-baby check up Tuesday and her 3 year old dental exam Wednesday. Then my plan is to drive to our new home and move in! I think she’ll be a big help unpacking, seriously. Tim, with the help of his father and step-mother will move in on Sunday.

We’re so excited to finally be taking this step. It’s been a while coming and we’re so ready. We will actually be back in Maryland the next weekend for a party, and perhaps some IKEA shopping but will spend our very own Christmas celebration in our new place. Just one quiet Christmas this year. We’ve requested and gift-givers send their gifts to be put under our tree and we will do the same.

We will happily reply with our new address to your email requests. The official change with the Post Office will be Dec. 10.

Notes on our Rental Search in Charlottesville

Friday, November 7 we took Sara Ellen to the Altman’s and joined them for dinner before heading to Richmond. We stayed overnight with Tim’s mother and then had a shorter drive west to Charlottesville.

Saturday, November 8 we had four viewings scheduled at properties for rent. Each was unique …

My Lament

I have been attending a Bible Study (short term disciple class) called Invitation to Psalms. It’s been good (though I am occassionally at the brunt of youth jokes, it’s not like I’m a teen!). Part of tonight’s exercise was to write our own lament. At first I …

Twilight Jacket Fiasco

While Tim called my final project “a nice 1st attempt for a project so complicated”, I’m not very satisfied with my jacket.

I really wanted a jacket, or shirt to celebrate the making of the wonderful book Twilight in the movie coming out on November 21. I wanted to …

Confidence in God’s Provision

Every Sunday at Calvary we join in corporate prayer read from the bulletin. This Sunday was particularly thought-provoking. In light of the following Psalm which was read by a member it seems like reminder that the Lord has a plan for us, to help each one.

O God, we …

Called

Beyond the average desire to have children, I have always felt called to do so. It would be my full time job and ministry. I’m blessed to be fulfulling this calling. During worship on Sunday we said [a version of] the prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi. …

New Moon Soundtrack

I was listening to Sarah McLachlan “Surfacing” today and heard “Do What You Have To Do”. It seemed the perfect song for Edward and Bella, maybe New Moon. Do you think it sounds more like Edward, or Bella?

What ravages of spirit
conjured this temptuous rage
created you a monster
broken …

Genesis 30 - 32

The more I read of Genesis, the more I am amazed by all the deceit. Now I have read about Jacob and Esau. Jacob steals the birthright (?) and Isaac’s blessing from his older brother and his mother is in on it. After Jacob steals the blessing, …

Twilight Dazzles

I breezed through Twilight for the second time. I hadn’t meant to so soon, probably not until closer to the movie, but I was hanging out with Sara Ellen in my parent’s room and a copy was there so I started. I put it down but I bought …

Sunday School

We reach another milestone with Sara Ellen tomorrow. She will be attending sunday school for two year olds at Calvary. I think she should enjoy it. At the least, she should not be unhappy because she is accustomed to the church and loves going for any reason. …
