We’re Home!

I am living in, and loving, my new home!

And it’s already looking like a home. We’ve done a lot of unpacking and some decorating, especially for Christmas in the downstairs. I light candles all the time. The kitchen is clean and reasonably stocked though we’ve gone to a grocery or home store almost every day. Money, money, money, slipping away. We bought a 6 foot Christmas tree and decorated it last night. It’s so pretty. We even have a mantle on which to hang stockings. I’ve never done that before! At least not where I’ve lived. The kitchen holds dishes and food. The walk-in pantry holds dishes and cleaning supplies. It also doubles as a closet.

Upstairs is not quite as together. We don’t have bookshelves, so boxes of books, dvds, vhs, and random stuff sit in semi-organized piles. Tim set up his desk from which we’re “sharing” his laptop. I do have my own laptop but the wireless is not hooked up yet. Our bedroom is also decent. We have a big closet full of clothes (though not all my shoes), a full dresser for us two, and an old dresser of mine we used before for Sara Ellen. All of our clothes storage needs to be reorganized but at least we’re not keeping all our clothes on the bed by day and the floor by night. We bought an over-the-door towel rack and a bamboo shower caddy that fits all my stuff and would fit Tim’s too but his stuff does not sit in the shower stream like mine was. The caddy doesn’t fit over the shower head so I put it on the curtain rod. I hope water doesn’t spill out when I use it. But really the water all falls on the opposite end. We are still organizing our “products” but at least they fit!

We’ve been active almost the whole time since we each moved in but I did finish “re-vamping” Breaking Dawn for the second time. I love it! I’m tempted to go for my third time already! Saturday night Sara Ellen fell asleep next to me on the sofabed I was too awake so I stayed up 4-5 more hours to read! I been able to sit and read now and then. I finished it yesterday morning before my friend Sara came up from Lynchburg for most of the day to visit.

Most of today was spent out. We got VA driver’s licenses and opened a new safety deposit box. We had a great lunch at Panera and made shopping lists. We went to CVS so I could transfer a prescription, Bed Bath and Beyond for lots more house stuff (where we saved money using a gift card and lots of coupons), and visited Harris Teeter grocery store for the first time. We’ve heard it’s apparently popular. It’s a pretty average grocery store but Tim thought it had more food than he’s seen in other stores. I got our discount card and Sara Ellen got a free balloon after eyeing all the others for sale. Sara Ellen fell asleep on the way home but woke up when I tried to put her in bed and was as adamant about watching “The Incredibles” as she was before falling asleep.

I’m looking forward to getting quiet time to watch my tv show or a movie with Tim. Maybe we can get Sara Ellen to bed soon. We’re trying to take a Christmas photo so we can send out Christmas cards we have yet to buy, with a letter yet to be written. :-) Happy Wednesday!
