My Lament

I have been attending a Bible Study (short term disciple class) called Invitation to Psalms. It’s been good (though I am occassionally at the brunt of youth jokes, it’s not like I’m a teen!). Part of tonight’s exercise was to write our own lament. At first I wasn’t too thrilled by this idea but I had some inspiration from today (my regular struggle) and with some help of biblical wording I wrote it down. When called to attention, I did not have my final line, usually thanksgiving/praise but I was willing to share when no one else spoke up. No one followed suit.

Oh Lord, my strength is worn out. I can no longer claim my words show love and patience. Another cry at me and my own voice will cry out. Keep my hand gentle. Do not let it come down in anger. For your patience is perfect. You have followed my every step and have laid my path before me. Your ways do not change. Grant me remembrance to your love and call me to act in kindness.
