Gilmore Girls is over!
Did you know that next weeks episode on Tuesday, May 15 at 8pm Eastern Time, is the SERIES FINALE for GILMORE GIRLS!! Not the season, the SERIES. It is no more.
Last night after the show, Tim and Emily mentioned having read the information so I decided to see what I could find. I knew it was possible the show would end after Rory graduating grom YALE but that seemed farther off for some reason.
Online, at the CWLounge I found a link to an appearance by Lauren Graham on Ellen [DeGeneres' show] yesterday. It’s a funny video. I think it is funny that Lauren talks almost as fast as Lorelai but with lots more “um”’s and pauses. I just think she would be a cool person to meet. She talks a little about her upcoming movie, Evan Almighty. I hope it’s good because other movies in which she has a part have not been great (The Pacifier). She is also in Because I Said So which is now on DVD and I hope to see soon. The video however does something really weird. They show a still shot of EA but then it cuts to what is supposed to be breaking news about terrorist arrests. It’s hard to tell if this is real or a joke because the quality of this new part is not very good. Then the image gets smaller and there is a bird’s eye view of a town and intermittent scenes from Gilmore Girls. Luke punching Christopher, Lorelai shieling Rory’s eyes, and Luke walking through the bike tournament and confronting Taylor. A reporter says who we were just listening to, U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Christie. Then it just stops. It doesn’t go back to Ellen or anything. I’d like to know what that’s about because it kind of seemed to relate to the GG clips, like Jon Stewart might do.
Here is another clip of Lauren on Ellen.
Spoilers follow, if you haven’t seen 5/08/07’s epidsode.
So, I’m sad that the show is ending. It would be nice to know where Rory would go from there, but I don’t know how they’d do that when as Rory puts it, her future is “wide open”. Logan asked her to marry him. It wasn’t fair to ask in front of all those people and have researched everything but her having given it no real thought previously. Of course he expected her to say yes but it was right of her to stop to think. Some might wonder why Logan wanted to have all or nothing, but I understand. College is over for them both and Rory doesn’t know what she is going to do, but she did figure out last week that career comes first. She has the opportunity to do anything and it would be hard to discover the possibilities if she were honestly trying to continue their relationship. Long distance is hard on relationships and it would likely, though perhaps slowly end.
