Here we go. I’ve finally been convinced to post online. While there are lots of American women living in Oslo, Norway, you probably don’t know many. I’ll try to include the regular “Norwegian-ness” I encounter daily into my posts.
Happy 30th birthday to JP Padgett, my wonderful [step]sister-in-law. I wish we could be there for her celebration.
We live right in Oslo, in an area called Frogner 5 minutes from downtown. It’s pretty with flora and lots of sculptures. The flora however doesn’t come out till mid-May when it feels like Maryland’s early spring. It’s very warm (around or near 80) for a few weeks in July and now it’s only a high of 60F. There are scultures everywhere but the most famous area is Vigeland Sculpture Garden in Frogner Park.
For the size of the city the public transportation is the best anywhere. I take a 7 minute tram ride and then a 30 minute metro ride to an area out of the main city called Mortensrud for work where I watch kiddies while their parents work out. Tim takes a 10 minute bus ride to work in an area called St. Hanshaugen.
As many of our family members who can manage have or will visit us. Tim’s mom came in July. We joined her for an exersion to Bergen (Western coast) and showed her around our hometown. In about a week his sister will visit for a week. And THEN in December, MY FAMILY WILL BE HERE!!!!! Mom comes the 1st and hopefully our little one will arrive before Dad, bro and sis arrive on the 23rd. I can’t wait to see them! We’ll have moved into another apartment by then, something more accessible, NOT on the 4th floor with no elevator. Wears me out.
