Shopgirl
It took me some time to decide on my opinion, this movie was boring. It stars Steve Martin (Ray) and Claire Danes (Maribella), and includes Jason Schwartzman (Jeremy). It’s based on Martin’s novella of the same name. The story is basically about Maribella trying to find a meaningful relationship and for someone to know her. As is so common in movies (and life?) she went backwards, thinking sex would lead to something special and secure with a person instead of the other way around. So I didn’t like what the story was about, and… it was dull. But I finished it. Jeremy, who was a complete dufus in the beginning improved himself while away and she was giving herself to Ray with no return. Jeremy comes home and is supposed to have realized her worth and treats her well, at least the “spooning” scene is supposed to her communicate that.
They do play their parts well, but I didn’t really enjoy it. I thought it would be a light rom/com (I just made that up ;-)) but it was surprisingly thought-provoking.
A girl I worked with recommended this movie to me, and because she said to watch it I didn’t. LOL

This is because she pestered me for WEEKS to rent “CLOSER” because it was just SO FABULOUS. So I finally did, and omg. I hate that movie so much; it was one of the most awful, pointless, degrading, disgusting, waste of time movies ever. I wish I could have those 3 hours of my life back and have never seen it because it is so awful it haunts you. SOOOooo haha I refused to see this movie because she said she liked it and I was very distrustful of her taste in movies. And Now I am glad I didn’t
NOoo joke, that movie was horrible! We rented it in Oslo and it was supposed to be a fun date night but to no avail.
