Growing and Influencing
I just learned today that though my brother had stopped writing on his old xanga blog, that he had begun another recently. His first entry talks about our arrival home and my strong influence on his faith. Wow! It’s an eye-opener really.
Tim and I have not yet chosen a godparent for Sara Ellen which we need to do before the baptism we plan to schedule for sometime next month, later and later in the month. When I think about who to choose and what I want them to do, to be a presence and encouragement in her life of faith, I consider my own life or what would seem lack of it. I don’t pray regularly, I certainly don’t study or even read the Bible regularly and I’m finally getting back to church. How can I hope to influence my daughter for the good if I am not opening myself to this influence?
One of the resources the church library has are some great magazines, Today’s Christian Woman and Marriage Partnership. As Emily pointed out when we visited the library last week was that I can now read parenting magazines also. I’m happy to now be able to read them regularly and hopefully make some time for books also. If I just even read a Bible chapter a day, I’d be better off. I also want to offer up prayers that will be significant in the lives of Tim, myself and Sara Ellen. Please pray for me that I will make the effort to do this.
