To An Amazing Midwife

I just wanted to give a shout out to Lin Lee, just one of our three amazing midwives at Altos Oaks Medical Group in El Camino Hospital Mountain View, and my hero one year ago today.

My second little one was on her way this time last year and with no family around, friends to help at the last minute, a very tired husband who just missed the birth because of our sick older daughter. I was so grateful to Lin and her attentive care. Just by watching and listening she could tell how I was progressing after I called her at 2am with water breaking and giving birth at 7am. What they do is beautifully normal and just as extraordinary. Thank you again. It’s amazing that I’m actually looking forward to regular gyn care just so I can visit.

Happy 1st Birthday Eliza.
Love, Mommy

    Hi there!
I love your blog and congratulations on your little one turning a year old! That is such a wonderful milestone. I found your blog while doing searches online about moving to the Cupertino area for a possible job with Apple. (Well, for my husband..not myself) We would be living on my husband’s income only for a while, as I have a 17 month old that I am home with. (I love reading your posts about your days with your daughter….I have many of those same experiences.) I’m curious to know how you and your family have adjusted to life there (especially with little ones and the high cost of living). We currently live on the East Coast and are well aware of the significant increase in living costs that we will face there. We’re looking at renting in areas close to where Apple is located if he does get the job. You have been so open as to sharing your experiences through your blog that I thought you would be a great source of info. We have no family or friends there, so this would be a MAJOR move for us. We are evaluating the pros and cons to see if it’s worth it. Desperately looking for first hand advice from someone moving there under similiar circumstances. Thank you in advance and great blog!
